Chapter-VIII.
Our surroundings was breathtaking, we were pretty high by now.
There weren't dense wood anymore, some pine, not so tall and twisted because the constant wind. More scrubs around us and the snow wasn't that high.
It was rather warm, the sun shined and luckily we weren't cold.
David observed the sky for helicopters or planes, he was searching them so long his eyes became weary and tearful from the strong sun. It was shining everywhere, Dave took an aviator sunglasses out of his pocket and put it on. He looked like a heartthrobber, as he was one, indeed.
Have you got one, he asked.
No, I got no, but I don't really like them, they disturb my sight.
Hmm, your sight would be disturbed by the reflection, not by the sunglasses. You have deep green eyes, so strange, sometimes it's grayish, sometimes bright green, wow, the eyes of a wildcat or a fox. They have a light in the darkness, I'm sure.
No, I can't see in the dark, last night I just felt you, couldn't see you.
I hope you considered it as a good feeling.
You can bet on it, I laughed. Ain't you hungry?
Sure, I am. Any ideas?
Moss?
Honey, I don't wanna hear that word again. By the very thought I feel nausea. We must find something to eat, we must...
I could look for it among the shrubs. I try it, one can never know...
I will wait you here and set a fire, making hot water, something we could use as tea would be nice. Woman, bring me some breakfast, he joked.
Very funny, I replied. And I was off on my little botanical enterprise again.
If I would ever be out of this ordeal I would write an essay on the native plants of New Zealand, where to find them and how to use them ,to get my Phd. from botanics.
Luckily, I found that spinach like weggies again, quite a low fat, low carb diet, still something, food into our mouth.
I saw a plant which looked like as a buttercap but was tenth larger, it was huge. It must be a species of the famous megaherbs of these islands. They have huge leaves and unusually coloured flowers. The brossure stated them as the outstanding botanical experience of New Zealand.
But can we eat this?
I knew, in my country people used to make tea out of the leaves of its smaller version, the leaves and roots aid the function of the circulatory system. That type occurs all around Europe. Well, some leaves can be collected, after all.
As I went further I spotted a strange plant which was called New Zealandian carrot, though it was not really a carrot, but what was the most important, its root was eidable.
I turned back soon, I was missing David, fool me. It was like that, I felt the absence of him badly, I wanted to know him by my side.
On my way back to the camp I tried to search for any kind of an animal but I've seen none. Where were the kakapo, the tui? It's okay you can't spot a kiwi, it is endangered and pretty rare, but where are the others?
I would eat some meat, not some, much. A tenderloin baked done, yummy. Or somekind of a stew or a curry, or.... Loud rambling... Oh, damn, it was my empty stomach. I am hungry, wanna eat......
I reached the camp, my one and only David was bent to the fire and warmed his hands on it. He hadn't turn his back, I was walking on a cat's paws. I suprised him by covering his eyes with my hands.
He knew instantly who I was. Where from, I still don't understand.
Quickly he made the "tea" and I sliced the roots, grilled them on the fire, and cut the greeny stuff into small pieces. With not much enthusiasm we ate it, then were off on the road again.
Once, we would get out of this situation I would use a car, even when going out to the loo.
Did I say I liked trekking?
Well, I lied.
We walked for two more hours. I was at the brink to give it up when we reached the ridge. From this point we could have a look around.
And there was it!
Here is the house-exclaimed Dave, he dropped his pack and started to run.
It is totally unbelievable. He is still able to run! What a stamina he has!- I tought.
Hey, hey Mauka! Look at this! We made it!
Have you got a key, too? Or do you know where it is?
We would find a way, I am sure, nothing can stop me know.
The lodge had a varnished oak door, it was pretty grand by deep-woods standards. Its name was Kia Ora. Probably this is a Maori name.
David examined the lock more closely. Then he took out something from his pocket and opened the door at an instant.
David, David, David-I shouted and I was jumping to and fro like a harmless lunatic on leave. You, did it, you opened it up. How did you do it that easily, I thought it would have taken hours.
I broke the tongue of the lock.
But this swiftly?
It's just a skill, only a trick, every fella knows it where I came from.
Well, let's go inside and take a look.
As we entered we found ourselves in the single big downstairs room- kitchen, dining room, and living room, all in one-but there was a bedroom behind, and another upstairs. The big room was filled with the scents of pine. There was a dark rug on the floor and a Maori picture on one wall which depicted brave little stick-hunters surrounding an enermous beast. A plain oak table, long enough to accomodate eight places, defined the dining area. There was a wood-stove in the kitchen and a fireplace in the living area, we won't be cold, at least.
Plenty of wood around us. On the west wall there was a huge window, giving a view of the long, steep slope which fell of to the West. There were traces of fire, and dead trees stood black and twisted in the thick snow.
First I went to the kitchen and Dave took dry wood inside from under the roof . I checked what was stocked up. I found canned goods on long shelves, quite a lot. If we can economise it could lost for about a month for the two of us. But economy was the last thing I wanted in this moment. We were so hungry, that the only thing I could think of was eating, wolfing down all I could find. I investigated the cup-board, too, and found tea, instant coffee, even cocoa powder, biscuits, choc, sugar, olive oil, salt. Nothing was missing, the house was stocked far beyond my expectations. I came out from the kitchen to check it on David. He already lit the fire and brought more logs inside, there was already a pile of logs in front of the fire place. I asked him to set a fire in the wood-stove, too, so I can heat up some canned soup and make a tea.
He closed the door with a slam and stepped to me.
Feeling any better?
I am relieved, it can't be that bad from now on.
Come on, Baby light my fire ,I sang to him merrily.
He opened the Zippo lighter, you like singing, don't ya? We have so much in common.
Well, I afraid I like but can't sing, I mean I don't have much of a singing voice.
He lit the fire and I put on a real kettle. There were packs of mineral water along the walls.
A real tea is coming, I promised him, though I never prepaired tea for a real Englishman as he was.
I fix the tea, okay, you bring the food, he ordered.
We sat down to the huge table next to each other. I never thought that a Campbell's tomato soup could taste that nice. We wolfed down the canned bean and finished it with dark chocolate. I felt contented.
David had a cigarette, then he asked me if I want to have a bath.
He said he found an old barrel outside and he would bring it in if I want it.
Oh, yes, I wanted that. It was a terrible feeling for me, that I felt myself so dirty, I was convinced I was smelling like a pig-farm, so I was really grateful for the offer.
After, we can have a check on the cuts and bruises. I hope your hands are okay.
Me, too. I took my gloves off.
Let, me see it, he asked.
Mau, have you seen a radio or an aggregator or gas somewhere?
Nope, neither of them.
Gimme your hands. It means big problem if we don't have a radio and are not able to find connection with someone who could inform the rescue team and the Office of the Mount Cook National Park.
Well, it is nice, just small wounds, not deep, it would be fine.
I bring in snow in a bucket, you just stay here and have a rest, he said.
I nodded and put my head down on to the table, and Morpheus took me away with him into his realm.
David shook me gently, My Lady, your bath is awaiting there.
I took off all my clothes while he stared. I piled them on the floor and asked Dave to throw them onto the fire. He laughed, came nearer and drove me in to the kitchen, where the barrel stood.
How I supposed get into it, I asked him.
With my help, of course, he answered, pulled a chair to the barrel and aided me in.
There is not enough water to actually take a bath, but I can pour hot water all over your body.
That would be nice, thanks.
Were you a good, girl? I have something for you.
No, I don't think so, but you can give it to me anyway.
Uhuhh, give me a kiss for it!
Just one kiss? You are cheap. I offer more, if you want it.
Oh, yeah I want it all, he said with a great sigh. It was a bar of soap in his hand and he handed it to me.
What a luxury! Hot water, a soap and a clean towel, it's seventh heaven!
And there are many more to come. -He promised me with a great smile. He seemed relaxed and much happier. His eyes were bright, and he smiled and smiled.
He started to pour the water onto me and helped me.
His hands were hot on my bare skin as he cleaned me. I felt his hands trembling, he dropped the soap.
Careful, I cried and tried to catch it. I found it at last at the bottom of the barrel, when I emerged from it, I found him standing next to me as Lord God had created him.
I couldn't helped myself staring him.
Strange, but his eyes were what kept me gripped. He has the most beautiful eyes of all men. His slender, muscular body was right next to me. I just adored him with silent awe.
What? He asked with a smile. He was so sure of the effect he'd made on me.
You naughty one!
Me? I just want to have a bath after you.
David, you know ,I haven't seen you naked, yet.
Well, nor have I seen you like that. Call me Adam and I will call you Eve. Let's play!
I promised you we would survive and we did, I am so happy, he said looking at me. I am your knight, ain't I? Saved my Lady from peril.
Oh, yes, you are! You are so beautiful, such nice tats, I love them all. You are drop dead gorgeus!
Thank you.
You know, you have an amazing body, don't you?
Well, yes. A couple of hundred women informed me about this very fact, already.
You are boasting!
You like that I'm confiden't, don't you?
I think, yes.
hen, no moaning on this. Can I continue to bath you?
Sure, I answered him and my body was shaking when he put his hands on me. I felt fire inside, the fire of life, burning within me. Lust stabbed me unexpectedly as a sudden pain in the tooth. He was seeing it, and did everything he could to turn me on more. His touch was silky, smooth as velvet, as he reached all parts of my body.
He claimed ,it was a bathing. But I knew better. He wanted me lose that little control I had over myself. He wanted me crying in joy, he wanted to rule me, wanted conquer me completely as far as I become him and he becomes me. I went weak at the knees, I could hardly hold my body straight.
He finished his work, I was readily washed. I was clean, the cleanest I'd been. Outside. And I was dirt inside, and I didn't care.
Holding me tight he helped me out of the barrel and wrapped a towell around me. Water dripped from my long chesnut hair,he sniffed it.
Oh, so fine. Your hair, hmm. So, curly, I like it.
It's your turn, My Lord, jump in!
With a leap, he did elegantly, and stood there waiting. I went out to the kitchen for another jug of hot water for him. I brought back it to Dave who had a rather sharp knife in his hand and applyed some soap on to his face.
What do you hink, can I shave myself with this?
Wanna skin yourself alive? Give it to me. I do it for you.
I haven't hurt you in any way, have I?
No, never. Why do you ask it?
I am just cautious, you keep the knife right next to my throat.
I won't slash it my dear. I don't if you won't move, can you stand still?
As erect as..... I started laughing.
Naughty girl, should I prank you?
I giggled like a juvenile, the knife was shaking in my hand.
Don't kill me, I do everything you want!
Eeeeeeevrything?
Yep, and by the way, I meant, I would stand as erect as the Big Ben.
So, you call it Ben?
You!
One more stroke and it's ready.
My Lord, do you want your maid assist you in your bath?
Yeees! He said passionately and drew my head closer to his body.
You'd better watch what you are doing, the knife is still in my hand, I warned him.
I poured water on to his body and started to wash his skin off gently, from one inch to the other, he began moaning and pulled my head further toward him.
I resisted, I wanted to arouse him as much as I could, before starting to soothe him.
I could hear his loud rattle from his throat. I took mercy on him at last.
When I finished the bathing he was trembling and was exhausted.
How steamy the kitchen became....from the hot water! I would never had an idea taking a bath can drain that much energy from somebody.
In our towels we went to the living room, where Dave put his clothes on.
Why don't you dress up, Mauka, you'd catch cold.
I don't have a rag to wear, replied him and pointed to the dirty pile of my clothes on the floor.
All of my girlfriends and wives said the same, he laughed. It would fit me this way, he was grinning wild.
Sooo funny. I meant it, I've got no more clothes. Lost them all.
I see, I can lend you a jeans and a t-shirt.
And knickers.. .Have you got them, too?
I check my bag, it could occur a fan left one there.
So cruel you are! Your clothes won't fit me, unfortunately, maybe tomorow I wash out the dirty ones. We can have a look, maybe we would find somekind of clothes. There must be a closet in the bedroom, can you give me a hand to find a cloth to wear?
I hadn't had to nag him he followed me eagerly.
