"God I can't remember the last time I was in one of these places." Dave said looking around him as they stood in the nightclub.

"Sorry" Callan looked up at him "I shouldn't have asked you to come should I?"

"So you don't not even when you're on tour?"

"No, the others do, but I just go back to my hotel room."

“No I'm fine Dad” he grinned as he came back from the bar, “Dad your water, Callan it was diet pepsi you wanted wasn't it?”

“So what do you think of them?” he nodded towards the support act who was on stage.

“They're really good, I love discovering new bands like this, there's just something about hearing a band live isn't there?”

Dave smiled to himself as he watched her moving slightly in time to the music as she spoke to Jack, discussing live music versus recorded studio stuff.

Watching the two of them together he suddenly became painfully aware of the age difference between them. Looking around him he started to feel out of place as he realised he was at least 15 years older than the oldest person there. Feeling awkward he looked over at Callan again as she laughed at something one of Jacks friends who'd joined them was saying to her. Suddenly feeling old, a moment of worry passed over him as he wondered whether the age gap between them was in fact too great after all, when she turned around somehow aware that he was watching her and gave him one of those smiles that he loved. He tried to ignore the bolt of jealously that shot through him as he saw one of Jacks other friends lean over and place his hand on her shoulder as he whispered something into her ear making her giggle and nod her head, being made worse by the fact that he couldn't go over and slip his arms around her. Dave frowned as the guy kept touching her arm as he spoke to her, Callan laughing and obviously agreeing with everything he was saying. She turned again to smile at Dave and frowned as she saw his face.

He watched as she politely made her excuses and came back over to him.

"Ok baby?" she asked standing close to him so that she could be hear over the interval music set.

"No I feel soo old" he muttered loving the feeling of her hands on is shoulder as she leant into him.

“You do?” he raised an eyebrow.

"Yes them I was wondering whether they would be worth considering for one of the support slots on the tour."

"No I don't think so" Dad" Jack chuckled.

"No?"

"No you'll see why "he smiled as the lights went down again and the band came on stage.. "I'm going down the front Calli do you want to come and keep me company?"

Callan smiled at him "No thanks Jack, I'll keep your dad company if you don't mind."

Suddenly they were caught up as the crowd surged forward towards the stage again. “Are you okay baby?” he asked worried she was being crushed.

“I'm fine Dave but maybe we should move a little to the side.”

“Okay” taking her hand he led her over to the side where the crowd had thinned out some, pulling her in front of him he rested his hands casually on her shoulders enjoying the way his body was being pressed against hers by the crowd.
