"I don't like to make a fuss that's all" she looked at the screen and smiled "Text from Jus"

"Something interesting?" he asked pulling to a stop at a set of lights.

"Possibly" she looked at Dave and then back at the photo now on the screen, Thought you might like a shot of your boyfriend in action lol read the message underneath.

"It's a photo of you, well at least I think it you” she giggled looking at the photo of some guy grabbing his crotch with both hands, she held the screen up for him to see.

"Oh yeah that looks like me" he grinned “Apparently I do that a lot on stage.”

"You don't " she chuckled.

"Believe me I do." he grinned putting the car back into gear and pulling away as the lights changed “It's sort of my trademark.”

“Why that though?”

“I don't know, I did it on stage once and all these girls at the front screamed, so I've kind of kept doing it ever since, plus other variations, I do a mean show of looking like I'm fucking a mic stand.”

"I'll have to check it out" she smiled and winked at him.


"Do you fancy lunch?" Dave asked as he pulled into the parking area outside of his apartment.

"Oooh please could we, I'm absolutely starving I didn't eat much on the plane."

"Wasn't the food very good then?"

"No it was fine, I just can never eat when I'm on a plane that’s all, so I just had a few black coffees and half a slice of toast."

Dave looked at her concerned "Hey you're not doing some drastic non eating plan or something are you?" Dave asked as they got out of the car.

"No nothing like that don't worry, like I said I can never eat when I'm flying, it took me all my time to eat the toast I asked for, have you anywhere in mind?”

"There’s a new Chinese place just a couple of blocks down I wouldn't mind trying if you fancy that."

"Yeah sounds great."

"Let's go then" he grinned.




"What do you fancy?" he asked as they sat at a table on an upstairs balcony.

"I don't know, everything sounds lovely."

Dave looked her as she ran her finger slowly down the menu as she tried to decide what to eat and for the first time he noticed how intensely green her eyes actually were.

She looked up as a waiter passed by their table. "Mmm that smells so good, what are you going to have?"

"I'm going for the fried beef and noodles what about you?"

"The special rice with squid and scallops, I think” she looked at the menu again before nodding "yes I'm definitely going for that."

"Shall we order some starters?" Dave asked.

"Not for me thank you" she smiled "I always get full really quickly when I eat Chinese."

"Sure?” he asked as a waiter approached their table, “last chance to change your mind."

"No I'm fine but you go ahead if you want too."

Quickly Dave gave the waiter their orders, "Pepsi alright for you?" he asked as the waiter asked them if they wanted drinks.

"Yes do you think I could have an extra large with no ice oh and some water too.” she smiled at the waiter.

"Of course Madam, anything else Sir?”

“No thank you” Dave smiled at the waiter as he collected their menus from the table.



"Are you ok?" he asked as she downed a glass of iced water in one and immediately refilled it from the jug that sat on their table.

"Yes I'm fine I just get days when I need to drink a lot" she put down her water and took a few sips of pepsi.

“So how are Rosie and Jimmy?”

“Fine, both excited about the trip although Jimmy being Jimmy thinks it's totally uncool to be excited so he's been saying he doesn't want to go, which reminds me he's left some messages back at home for you about Judo oh and Rosie wants to know if it's okay for her to call you whilst they're away.”

Callan looked at him and smiled “I've missed that little one, tell her it's fine and I can't wait to hear from her.”

“Are you sure I know she can be a little full on sometimes.”

“Dave I told you I think she's adorable, if she wants to ring me sometimes that's fine, I have to admit I did kind of miss them whilst I was away. How about Jack? How's he doing?”

“Great, he's coming over in a week or so and dying to meet you.”

“Me?” she asked surprised “Why would he be looking forward to meeting me?”

Dave looked at her and grinned “Rosie sent him one of the Lindeberg shoot photos and told him all about you.” he looked at her and grinned “I think he's got a bit of a crush on you to be honest.”

“Dave” she blushed “Why on earth would he have a crush on me? No you must be imagining it.”

“I'm not, he asked all about you.”

“He's just taking an interest that’s all” she smiled.

“Callan” Dave took her hand “Why do always do this?”

“Do what?”

“Someone says you're beautiful and you dismiss it.”

“Because I'm not that’s why.”

“Honey you are, look at you, you saw the Lindeberg photos Claudine mailed you, how can you say you're not beautiful?”

“Those just looked good because of the make-up” she blushed fiddling with the chain around her neck.

“It's not the make up that makes you beautiful Callan, it's only you that can make yourself like that.” he said gently stroking the back of her hand with his thumb, “I wish you'd see it for yourself sweetheart.”

“So did you hear anymore about the photos?” she asked changing the subject.

“Yes Claudine rang me this morning they've chosen now, three of me and a couple of the ones we had taken together, they especially liked the one where we're looking at each other and I've got my hands on your shoulders.”

“Oh that one, yeah I like that one best.”

“Really? Me too I loved it as soon as I saw it. That's what I meant about you being beautiful, you've seen how good you look on it.”

“Dave it's just a photo, everyone looks good in stuff like that.” she looked over his shoulder “Mmm I think lunch is on it's way.”


“Are you having a bit of trouble there honey?” Dave chuckled, as Callan dropped yet another scallop from her chopsticks.

“I'm hopeless with these things.” she giggled stabbing the scallop with the end of one her chopsticks and putting it in her mouth.

“Here look” he took his own chopsticks “You put the bottom one like this then hold the top one in your hand like this see?” quickly he demonstrated the movement.

“I know how you're supposed to do it but I can never get it to work look” she repositioned them in her right hand and tried picking up some noodles most of which promptly slid back onto her plate.

“You're hopeless.”

“Well I did tell you that I was.”

“Come here, let me show you “ he grinned getting up from his seat and sitting next to her. He took the chopsticks from her and took her right hand with his. “Look” gently he placed one of them in her hand “and the other one you put here, then you can use them properly." Holding her hand he moved her fingers showing her the right way to move them “ See how they're easy to use now” he smiled picking a piece of squid between them and putting it into her mouth. He held on to her hand for a few moments longer as he watched her eat, until he was suddenly aware of a new closeness that seemed to have come between them.

“Think you're ready to try it solo now?” he asked letting her hand go.

“I'll give it a try” moving her fingers one of the sticks slipped and she tried righting it only to end up dropping it completely, “then again perhaps not” she laughed.

“Here let me.” Once again he placed them in her hand, his strong fingers brushing over her skin as he tried to position it correctly “Like that, ready to try again?”

Callan nodded and Dave let go of her hand “Here goes.”

“That's it just move the top one” he smiled as Callan picked up one of the scallops and managed to get it to her mouth in one movement.

“I did it” she beamed at him and then suddenly kissed him on the mouth, “I actually did it.”

“Hey steady you only ate something with chopsticks you know.”

“I know but I've never been able to do this before.....” What?” she asked looking at the smile on his lips.

“Callan you're just adorable.”

“I've got you something.” Dave began nervously as they sat sipping coffee, worried about her reaction.

“You did?” she looked at him warily.

“Hey it's nothing scary, I was hoping to give it you before you left but, well you left early and it wasn't quite ready.”

He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a small flat box and placed it on the table.
“What is it?”

“Open it and see.”

With her hands shaking slightly she pulled at the silver ribbon holding the box together. Dave watched as she lifted the lid and her eyes opened wide in surprise.

“Oh my God... it's the Clifton suspension, David it's beautiful, but it's too much, you shouldn't have.”

“But I wanted to. I wanted you to have something really special, when I saw your reaction to the bridge charm in the shop I wanted you to have one that would mean a lot to you.”

“Where on earth did you find it.”

“I didn't I designed it myself and had it made specially for you.”

“You did that for me?” she asked touched.

“Yes.”

“It's lovely David but you really shouldn't have.”

“Well I did, look if it makes you feel better we can call it your birthday gift ok, so will you accept it.”

“Ok” she smiled up at him blushing “But please no more presents like this ok.”

“But you like it though right?” Dave grinned.

“Dave I love it.”

“Mmmm somehow I thought you would. Put it on then.”

Carefully Callan took the necklace lace from the velvet pad inside the box and held the tiny scale charm in the palm of her hand, looking at it closely she shook her head as she looked at the details on the platinum piece. She fumbled with the clasp of the smooth chain a couple of time before handing it to Dave.

“You'll have to do it for me.”

“Ok” slipping out of his seat and standing behind he leant down and placed the chain around her neck as she held her hair up out of the way for him.

“Damn” he cursed softly as he missed the tiny links of the clasps the first time. Inhaling her scent as he tried again his hand trembled slightly as he tried and missed a second time.

Callan shivered slightly as his fingers brushed against her neck and felt Dave's breath against her skin as he leant in closer to try again. Dave took a deep breath and tried for the third time this time being successful.

“There that's it” he murmured his hands stroking away the tiny curls that had already began to wrap themselves around the chain

“How does it look?” she asked letting her hair back down and turning towards him, the tiny charm now resting just above her cleavage.

“Beautiful” he smiled.

“Thank you” she whispered putting her arms around him and hugging him hard before kissing him on the lips “But no more gifts like this ok?”

“Ok”

“Promise?”

“Promise” he grinned sitting back in his seat.

She took the small bridge between her fingers and looked closely at it again, “Oh God those are amethysts aren't they?” she smiled looking at the tiny stones that ran along the bridges span.

Dave smiled and nodded “Yes just some more to go with the one you're wearing, that reminds me I'll have to get you a longer chain for that one so that it doesn't tangle with the new one.”

Watching her face as she carried on looking at the necklace, he gave a small satisfied smile happy that he'd managed to buy her something she obviously loved so much..

“Thank you Dave” she whispered shyly reaching across and taking his hand.

“My pleasure Calli” he replied.
