Chapter Thirty


“Jack” Dave smiled as his son came into the arrivals lounge.

“Dad” quickly they embraced each other “You didn't have to come and meet me, I told you I can make my own way over to yours.”

“Well I was in the area so I thought I might as well pick you up.”

Jack rolled his eyes and grinned “Dad you're so transparent, you just happened to be driving past JKF?”

“Okay okay, I'd dropped Calli off and thought instead of going back home I'd try and catch you here, anyway” he grinned easily “Is it so bad to have your old man pick you up?”

“Well I suppose it does save the hassle of getting a taxi” Jack smiled “Just don't expect a tip okay old guy, oh and don't take me the long way round either.”

Dave laughed “Hey don't think you're too old for a clip round the ear son.”



“So where is Callan?” Jack asked as Dave pulled out of the slip road and on to the highway.

“She's got a fitting over at Lindeberg ready for the launch on Friday night” He smiled “Talking of which are you coming to see your old man in action?”

“I might do, that photo Rosie sent me was great by the way and Callan sounds really nice.”

“She is” Dave smiled “I think you'll like her, anyway you'll see her later, I thought the three of us could go out for dinner later, that's if you're not going to be too tired, I would have suggested lunch but she insisted she had to go to classes today.”

“I'd like that, so what is she like?”

“Funny, intelligent, incredibly sweet...”

“And very pretty I noticed Dad.”

“Yes very pretty and very shy..,” he glanced over at him and grinned “So you'd better go easy on her with the old Gahan charm okay.”

“Okay, she sounds great Dad, I can't wait to meet her.”



Callan glanced at the window of the lingerie shop she passed by. The gorgeous emerald underwear on one of the models caught her eye. Walking into the shop her eyes widened as so many items of lingerie seemed to bombard her, she'd never been into this type of store before never having had anyone to impress by buying stuff like this. Yes she had a few items of pretty and perhaps slightly sexy underwear but nothing like this. Glancing at her watch she realized she still had time before she was due in class if she skipped her planned stop for a latte at Starbucks, after her encounter with Dave there she'd seemed to have taken to calling in there for a drink and of course to replay the experience in her mind.

Selecting a few sets that caught her eye she made her way to the changing rooms. Pulling the curtains closed around her she eagerly stripped off her shorts and vest top and slipped into the first set of underwear she'd selected. Turning round to look at herself in the mirror she gasped softly at her reflection in surprise hardly recognizing the woman who stood in front of her. The emerald green bra pushing up her already large breasts in all the right places making them look even larger than they were. Her eyes skimmed over her impossibly flat stomach the last few days of almost non stop sex somehow having had an effect she surmised. Next she tried on a deep purple bra and thong set, their deep colour contrasting against her skin and once again making her breasts look bigger, finally she picked up something she'd never even contemplated trying on before and knew that Dave was going to die when he saw her wearing it. A black lace corset that left absolutely nothing to the imagination, the sheerness of the lace showing off every inch her skin underneath without looking cheap and tarty and fitting her body as if it had been made especially for her. She ran her hand down to where it cinched her waist in before letting it run down over her stomach. Stepping into the matching thong she turned and looked at herself in the mirror delighted with what she saw. She made a mental note that she'd save this particular outfit for something special, maybe after the Lindeberg launch, she wouldn't be able to wear it with the dress that the stylist had picked out for her but she'd be able to change into it afterwards.

Reluctantly she slipped back into her own clothes again and headed towards the pay desk stopping to pick up both white and black stockings on her way, eyeing up a pair of black fishnets she also placed them into her basket smiling at herself at the thought of what Dave's reaction would be when he saw her wearing those with the basque she chosen.



“So how's the room?” Dave asked as Jack came into the kitchen where he was setting up the coffee maker.

“Great, nice colour scheme and I like those prints.”

“Oh the black and white ones.”

“Yeah, they are of places in New York aren't they?”

“Yes Callan came across them in some shop downtown, she thought they'd look good in the room.”

“Callan?” Jack looked at his Dad and raised an eyebrow.

“Hey it's not as if we went interior shopping or anything together.” Dave chuckled knowing what he was thinking “She just happened to see them and thought they'd look good, although” he winked at Jack “The fact they're of buildings and bridges probably had something to do with it.”

“Why?” Jack looked at him slightly confused.

“You haven't met her yet, she's training to be an engineer and she's obsessed with the things. Actually the first day we met she took me the empire state and all she could do was point out bridges.”

Jack smiled “Geek then huh?”

“I'd call her an adorable geek Jack, anyway do you want a coffee?”

“Please and I'm starving can I do myself a sandwich or something?”

“There's some bagels Calli picked up for us somewhere” he hunted through the cupboard “Oh here.” grabbing the package he placed them on the counter, “I think she bought us some meats and cheeses too, have a look in the fridge.”

“So you've got her doing your shopping then?” Jack chuckled “Trust you Dad.”

“Hey I don't ask her to do this stuff she just does, she's incredibly thoughtful as you'll find out tonight.”

“Mmm sounds like someone might have a little crush on her hey Dad?”

“Cheeky bugger you're not too old for a slap you know.”

“Yeah I'd like to see you try it Dad” Jack laughed.



“So how’s your Mom then?” Dave asked as they sat eating their bagels.

“Same as usual Dad” he looked at Dave and rolled his eyes “When am I going to get a nice girlfriend? When am I going to get a “Proper Job” as she puts it.”

“Sounds like your Mother, your Gran used to say the same to me you know, I guess it's a Mom thing.”

“I wish she'd realise I'm a grown up now. What?” he asked as Dave gave a low chuckle.

“Get used to it Jack, your Gran still rings me up and asks me the same things and look how old I am. Last week she was asking me if I'd found a nice girl yet?” He laughed and shook his head “They don't give in you know.”

“So did you tell her about Callan?”

“Do you think I'm mad? She'd be buying a hat ready for my next wedding, anyway..” He glanced over at Jack trying to ignore the feeling of guilt “Callan and I just like hanging out and doing stuff together so there isn't going to be any wedding bells or anything.” He smiled at Jack feeling better that he hadn't actually lied to him about his and Callan’s relationship.

“Mmm well you'd better hope that Rosie doesn't tell grandma about her then, she does a pretty good sales talk on Callan you know.”

“I know” Dave smiled at Jack “As for your Mom, she's just worried about you, you have to remember she knows all about the, shall we say darker side of the music business, she knows what can happen,” He swallowed hard “What it can make people become, she's a little scared and over protective of you that's all.”

“I know Dad but you came through okay though didn't you?”

“Eventually yes, but she does have a right to be frightened for you, so cut her some slack yeah?”

“Okay Dad I guess you're right. I just wish she'd realise that I'm not stupid enough to be...” he stopped and looked at Dave blushing “Dad I'm sorry.. what I meant was...”

“Jack I know what you meant.” Dave placed his hand on his son’s arm and gave him a small smile, “You've learnt the hard way because of me.. Your Mom'll be proud of you whatever you decide to do and that goes for me too you know.”

“Thanks Dad” Jack smiled back.



“Will you be alright if I nip out for a while” Dave asked after Jack had settled in at the apartment. “I just need to get a couple of things I shouldn't be too long.”

“Yeah I'll be fine, I'm a big boy now you know” he chuckled.

“You know what I mean” Dave smiled happy to have Jack with him again.

“I know, yeah you get on, I'll grab a quick shower and go up into the studio if that's alright.”

“Of course it is you know you don't have to ask, you remember the key code don't you?”

“Yeah 4959 right?”

“That's the one” he glanced at his watch.

“Am I keeping you from something Dad?”

“No I was just checking the time, Christian should be up there in an hour or so, he's got something he'd wondered if you wanted to work on with him. He'll tell you about it, but you know where everything is up there anyway.” He walked over to the side table and picked up his phone and keys “I shouldn't be too long, I'll see you later.”

“Yeah see you later Dad.”



“Hi baby” Callan whispered as Dave's name showed up on the caller id “Did Jack get there safely?”

“Yeah, he's just going to grab a shower then head upstairs to the studio.”

“Oh that'll be nice for the two of you to spend sometime up there together, are you going to show him that stuff you've been working on?”

“Maybe later, I have something else to do at the moment, are you due a break soon?”

“Now actually why?”

“Because I'm coming over to see you.”

“Me why?”

“Dave” she giggled “I'm not actually wearing the dress I'm going to be wearing on Friday you know.”

“I know, but I want to see what they did to your hair.”

“Well you're out of luck then, I put it back in a band when I left.”

“Well I could hardly turn up here glammed up could I, so you'll have to wait until Friday” she teased.

“Okay, but I can't wait for something else, twenty five minutes and find us somewhere quiet.”

"Well you'll have to wait I can't miss the next class."

"Oh Calli please I want to see what you look like."

"I told you already the same as when I left you this morning."

"Take a cold shower and go and spend some time with Jack" she laughed "Now I've got to go I'll see you around 3pm."




"So am I going to get to meet the guys then?" he asked as she put the key in the lock of her front door.

"No not now, Nathans still away until tonight and the others are never home until 7.30 on a Tuesday."

"So we're going to be alone then?

Callan blushed harder as he wandered into the kitchen clad in just his boxers chuckling “I can do you in here if you wa...” he stopped as he saw Nathan standing in front of him, immediately frowning and noticing the way that Nathan was looking at Callan. “Everything okay baby?” he asked slipping his arms around her waist.

“Fine sweetheart” she turned slightly to look up at him “ Nathan’s back early, I was just about to tell him about us.” she turned back to Nathan “As I was about to say Dave and I have started seeing each other now, but we would be grateful if you could keep it quiet for now please.”

“And who's idea was that?” Nathan shot a glance at Dave who glared back at him. “Yours maybe?”

“Nathe sweetheart it was mine actually” Callan stepped in “It was nothing to do with Dave.”

“So why all the secrecy then?”

“Because of his children, I don't want them getting unsettled if this is only going to be a two week fling or something.” She placed her hands over Dave's “So until we know where we're heading with this I'd like you not to say anything to anyone. As far as anyone else knows we're still just friends okay.”

“If that's what you want, then okay, but I can't guarantee the other guys will keep quiet.”

“It is, thanks I know I can rely on you, we can work around the other guys somehow but I wanted you to know.” She released Dave's hands and slid out from his arms and went over to hug him “Welcome home Nathe I'm glad you're back.”

“Thanks geek” He glared at Dave over her shoulder then gave her a quick kiss on the lips as his arms wrapped around her harder.

“Now I'd better go and retrieve my clothes, before someone else finds them” she stood on tiptoe her shirt riding up as she kissed Dave on the cheek. “I'll only be a minute okay baby?”

“She told you the reason, not that's it's got anything to fucking well do with you anyway”

“But it suits you I guess.”

“Oh come on aging rock star with a girlfriend less than half his age it's a bit cliched isn't it?” Nathan sneered “Calli wants to keep it quiet so of course you're going to go along with her idea, the press would have a field day wouldn't they? I'm telling you now if she gets hurt in all of this.”

“I'm not going to do anything to hurt her,” he glared at him “And I don't want you stirring it between us, do you think I don't know that you've got the hots for her.”

“I don't think..”

“Nathan it's written all over your face, I saw the way you looked at her just then, well do you know what mate? I'm the one with her, I'm the one who gets to go to bed with her at night. So just remember that.”

“Everything okay sweetheart” Callan asked coming back into the kitchen slipping her arms around Dave's naked waist and pressing her cheek into his back.

“Fine baby, me and Nathe are just getting to know each other aren't we mate?”

“Something like that” Nathe agreed glaring daggers at Dave.

“Good it would mean a lot to me if you two could be friends.”

“I'll leave you two to it then” Nathan huffed stalking off to the lounge.
